THE PLAYERS THEATRE
Built in 1907 and converted into a theater in the late 1950s, the historic Players Theatre hosts a 199-seat Off-Broadway Theatre, four rehearsal studios, and the famous Cafe Wha?, which has been a Greenwich Village mainstay since the 1960s. Over the years, the Players Theater has become a jewel in the midst of beautiful Greenwich Village, serving as a magnet for performing artists and their audiences.
Located at 115 Mc Dougal Street, The Players Theatre is accessible by a several different train lines, including the 1 train at Houston , and the AC/DF trains at W 4th St/ Washington Square. Each of these stations is about a 6 minute walk from the theater. Additionally, there are three citibike stations within 2-3 minutes walk of the theater. There are also multiple dining options nearby if you want to grab a quick bite before the show including Artichoke Basille's Pizza, Off The Wagon Collegiate Sports Bar, and the vegan restaurant Red Bamboo.
THE RESIDENCY
"My True Love! A Perfect Musical Fairytale" has been selected as one of three shows to receive a self-producing residency with the Players Theatre next year, which will allow us to use the space at a significant discount for an Off-Broadway production in 2024. The Players Theatre also provides guidance and mentoring in areas like budgeting, marketing and building a creative team. Other shows that have gone through this residency include "Pharma Bro! The Martin Shkreli Musical," "Stranger Sings: The Unauthorized Stranger Things Parody Musical," and "Khan!!! The Musical", a Star Trek Musical Parody. "My True Love! A Perfect Musical Theater" will run from May 2- June 2nd, 2024 on the Players Theater's Mainstage.
